About this Event
Acclaimed children’s author Kristin Darell will lead young writers to create a character and use their five senses to spark a new story idea. Following prompts and a step-by-step process, students will go on a journey of discovery, gathering all they need to solve their ultimate character equation. They’ll then have a chance to bring the start of the story to life — through writing, illustrating or both. Kristin’s simple formula makes the art of story creation fun, accessible, and something all kids can enjoy.
Kristin Darell is a Sydney-based writer and the best-selling author of 10 books for children, including her new middle grade series It’s a Twin Thing, and the popular junior fiction series Football Fever and Taronga Presents. After working as a broadcast journalist for more than 20 years, Kristin is now a passionate advocate for children’s literature and loves helping kids find new ways to share the stories of their time and their world.
Recommended for ages 6–12.
