About this Event
For 107 years, Assistance League® of Los Angeles (“the League”) has improved the lives of underserved, foster, and homeless children in our community, now helping 22,000 children annually. Our annual "Blast Off with Books!" drive for brand new books will take place January 21 - March 31 , 2026.
You can support our campaign in person by volunteering with us on Saturday, February 21st from 10:00am-1:00pm.
This FREE family-friendly volunteer event will:
- Encourage attendess to donate brand new books towards our 7,500 book goal for our Foster Children Resource Center, Operation School Bell, Preschool Learning Center, and Theatre for Children programs. We are most in need of: Bilingual books for preschoolers to high schoolers (Spanish/English), Early reader/picture books for infants to 2nd graders, Chapter books for 3rd to 5th graders, Leisure reading books for high schoolers and young adults. PLEASE NOTE: We cannot use textbooks, religious, adult, or library books.
- Decorate 500 fun bookmarks
- Create "Date with a Book" kits for teen attendees of our annual Prom Day event.
How to register: Alll ages of volunteers are welcome with advance registration! Registrants can only obtain a quantity of 1 ticket and will be asked upcon registration to include the number of additional adults and any children under the age of 18.
