Welcome to our blues series for fall 🍂 In this 6-week course, we will build your blues dancing fundamentals from the ground up and give you a solid and practical foundation on which to expand your blues knowledge and repertoire. As always, we aim to share our knowledge not just in movement, but also in the music and culture. You will learn specific concepts such as jukin' and ballroomin' blues, practice movements in the form of idioms and general blues aesthetics, and be informed about some of the cultural values and context from which blues and so many other Black/African-American art forms have begun 💙This series will be led and taught by Robin Chow.
We are delighted to once again be joined by Lisa Jordan for most of the series, who will be sharing her insights and knowledge of blues during the lessons. Lisa is long-time blues dancer, with a deep well of understanding and experience with regards to blues, and it's such a privilege to have her with us.
