About this Event
Fab Lab Summer Camp: LEGO® Animation & Digital Design- 2 week camp (M-R)!
at Lake Michigan College
LEGO® bricks aren’t just toys—they’re powerful tools for creativity, engineering, and storytelling! In this exciting summer camp, students will discover how LEGO creations can come to life through digital modeling and animation.
Campers will explore the many surprising ways LEGO has been used over the years—from large-scale builds and functional designs to moving mechanisms and stop-motion storytelling. Inspired by these ideas, students will jump into the world of 3D animation using Blender, a professional-grade creative software used by artists and animators around the world.
Participants will design LEGO-inspired models, bring characters and objects to life, and create their own animated scenes. Along the way, they’ll learn core concepts behind modern animation and visual effects while building confidence with computer-based creative tools.
This camp is perfect for beginners as well as students who have participated in previous computer or digital design camps.
Topics & Skills Include:
- 3D modeling and digital sculpting
- Animation and rigging
- Rendering and lighting
- Visual effects (VFX) and simulations
- Creative storytelling through motion
- Working independently in a digital design environment
By the end of camp, students will have created original animated content and gained foundational skills used in animation, game design, and digital media industries.
