Home School Art Class for Middle Schoolers and High Schoolers
Where the student is the ARTIST and the "classroom" is their STUDIO!
This is a TAB (Teaching for Artistic Behavior) Art Class
Designed to inspire students with a more intense interest in art and teach them to work
"like an artist".
Sessions Held Fridays, 11:30 pm - 1 pm
$25 per class, this session is 6 classes and is $150 for six 1.5 hour sessions and all supplies.
(Note, the sessions may extend more than 7 consecutive weeks due to holidays or studio schedule conflicts. Also, time may be slightly different on 2 dates of the session)
Finished projects will vary by artist's interests, abilities, skills and techniques.
Ages 12 & Up
This class requires the ability to identify/plan, problem solve, and apply artistic behaviors. Experience not required, however a sincere interest in the arts is needed for success. Age exceptions may be considered at the instructors discretion.
What to expect in a TAB (Teaching for Artistic Behavior) Art Class
The class will often begin with some artistic warm ups and or sketching to settle into a creative place. Then, for instance, if the instructor is introducing water color painting, part of the class will be dedicated to learning skills and being inspired by some examples. Then the young artists will seek their own inspiration
(what do I want to create?) and identify their ideas for the composition/work they want to create. Then time is spent exploring, applying and reflecting on their works as well as the works of their peers.

This class will focus on teaching artistic behavior, fostering creative expression.
The student is the ARTIST and the "classroom" is their STUDIO.
Artists learn patience, develop focus, gain self-confidence and the ability to adapt to unexpected outcomes. There will be skill builders and techniques that accompany themed lessons that carry over into choice compositions and creations. Under the direction of the teacher students will develop confidence in their vision and creativity while learning more advanced techniques, styles and practices in the arts. The class fosters choices with encouragement and emphasis on students being involved in the entire artistic process. The teacher, a professional artist and educator, functions not only to educate but to mentor. We will present ideas and concepts, demonstrate techniques and materials, and encourage and support our students to produce works at their own personal highest level. Everyone is encouraged to make art that reflects their own personal flair and expand their creative growth while using the techniques and mediums we teach. Completed pieces will vary based on skills, age and level of engagement.

Everyone has fun! Confidence and creativity is fostered! Artistic endeavors provide an emotional release and ease stress and anxiety. Young artists as well as analytical thinkers gain an opportunity to make connections to history and their current world as they exercise their creative side. They will be sharpening the mind through concept visualization which aids other academic areas. Fine arts develop motor skills and advanced hand-eye-coordination as artists learn to bring what they see in their minds to life.

What to wear & bring:
Wear something to be “creative and messy” in, as all mediums are not easily washable. Art aprons are provided however they are not preferred by some artists and accidents happen.
All art supplies are provided by the studio. Students should bring a water bottle/drink. A snack is also suggested.
