About this Event
Join us to learn about jogakbo, a Korean style of patchwork! In this workshop, local artist Bella Kim will teach us about the history of this technique and show us how to create your own mini jogakbo piece that you can frame or turn into a decorative box lid.
Traditionally, Jogakbo was used to make bojagi (wrapping clothes), blankets, and other textiles. This style came about as a way of using leftover fabric scraps, reducing waste and saving money. Bella Kim incorporates this practice into her artwork, using candy wrappers and discarded items in addition to leftover fabric. Because of this, we invite you to bring any leftover materials you may have laying around to include in your own jogakbo artwork (materials will also be provided).
