This two-and-a-half-hour workshop engages participants in collectively exploring how perspective changes with context.
The workshop is primarily organised around different scenarios, such as introducing objects into a room, and then having the group discuss their observations of what they see.
This workshop may be well-suited for those interested in exploring the following questions:
What does it mean to know what an object is?
What occurs in my mind when I’m confused by a question?
What is the experience I have before a thought arises?
How can two people look at the same situation and see different things?
How does intention link to objective descriptions of the world?
With an engineering background, David has been professionally involved in the relationship between people and equipment. Specifically, how people talk about, use, and understand the purpose of equipment. The scenarios in this workshop are inspired by instances of organisational confusion he observed, which often led to stress, miscommunication, and poor outcomes.
Note: The workshop is structured so that all engagement and sharing are voluntary, and no role-playing will occur.
BIODavid served in the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) from 2013 to 2024, earning a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering and becoming a qualified Marine Engineering Officer. During his time in the RAN, David served aboard RAN ship HMAS Choules and French ships La Fayette and Le Tonnerre. He also worked in shoreside maintenance, detailed design engineering, and business governance and assurance.
In his governance and assurance roles, David developed a curiosity about how businesses understand what they know, how decisions are made, and how technology, organizational structure, and culture interact to support achieving outcomes.
After discharging from the Navy, David relocated to the South Coast with his partner, Carlie, where they are focused on creating a life they love together.
