With over 14 years in the field of animal assisted human services, our Clinical Manager and Registered Psychologist, Melonie Labrecque will teach you about the intricacies of conducting AAHS in a therapeutic or educational setting and will lead you through a number of experiential activities and discussions tailored to suit your individual needs.
This 3-day experiential internship includes:
๐นAn introduction to a variety of species commonly worked with in AAHS, including canines, equines, and other farm animals
๐นApplications of theoretical and practical knowledge through nature-based and animal-assisted activities
๐นDiscussions about theory, ethics, various working models, screening/training, settings, populations, and more!
๐นDemonstrations and discussions with our dog trainer about canine behaviours, necessary training, screening practices, recommended equipment, activities, and more!
๐นOpportunities to provide feedback, network with peers, and engage in meaningful conversation
๐นAccess to resources such as books and videos
๐นGroup consultation and support from our facilitator to discuss current or future career objectives
๐นComplementary snacks and beverages (please bring your own lunch)
