About this Event
Exploring and celebrating Cromer's marine environment
You are invited to join us online and help us explore the different ways in which the people who live, work and visit North Norfolk enjoy recreational activities on the coastline and inshore marine area.
This will support our work to protect the area's marine environment for future generations.
Event details:
The Marine Management Organisation (MMO) is running a series of workshops on the North Norfolk coast and online to give you more opportunities to join and contribute. All times and locations will be shared on MMOs Eventbrite page.
At this workshop you'll be asked you to share your local knowledge and expertise to help inform an assessment of marine recreational activities in Cromer Shoal Chalk Beds Marine Conservation Zone (MCZ). This will support our understanding of where marine recreation may be having a potential impact on the protected habitats and species of the site.
Light refreshments will be provided and the event will be facilitated to make sure that there is an opportunity for all participants to contribute in a comfortable and open way.
Your role matters:
By sharing how you and others use and value the North Norfolk coastline, you will help us to highlight the social and cultural importance of the area in future decisions and initiatives related to its management.
Why are we holding this event:
MMO's Marine Conservation Team want to work with you to make sure that the diverse values associated with this area can be brought into any future decisions about management of recreational activities (excluding fishing) in two inshore marine protected areas (MPAs) off the Norfolk coast:
- Cromer Shoal Chalk Beds Marine Conservation Zone (MCZ)
- The Wash and North Norfolk Coast Special Area of Conservation (SAC)
This event is to explore what marine non licensable activities (marine recreation) takes place in or near The Wash and Nort Norfolk SAC and how these activities may be impacting on the protected habitats and species of the SAC. This includes but is not limited to activities such as sailing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, powerboating, swimming, kayaking, diving, snorkelling and paddle boarding.
