The 2023 vintage represents the crowning achievement of three consecutive years of excellence, forming the first trilogy of the 21st century – a rare phenomenon since the legendary 1988, 1989 and 1990 vintages.
Following the crystalline finesse of 2021 and the solar power of 2022, 2023 stands out for its accomplished balance, the result of a contrasted yet perfectly mastered climatic context. A warm, humid spring, followed by a summer marked by episodes of intense heat and timely, restorative rainfall, led to the progressive and ideal development of noble rot.
On tasting, Château d’Yquem 2023 reveals luminous density and rare harmony. Its pure, precise nose evokes stewed rhubarb, lilac and citrus fruits, subtly lifted by notes of beeswax and cedar. On the palate, the attack is ample and silky, unveiling flavors of apricot, Ente plum and mandarin marmalade, stretched by a structuring freshness. The long, savory finish leaves an impression of vibrant velvet, revealing both the wine’s immediate accessibility and its immense ageing potential.
