About this Event
Like many Americans, Olson’s early image of Morocco was shaped by cinema and myth, most notably Casablanca. What he encountered instead was a country of startling juxtapositions: ancient Roman ruins standing in the shadow of glass skyscrapers, Saharan heat giving way to the cold Atlantic wind, and small agricultural towns existing far from the polished narratives of tourism.
This exhibition marks Olson’s first photographic exhibition in Orlando in a long time, making it both a personal milestone and a cultural moment for the city’s arts community. It introduces a new dimension of an artist long known locally as a connector and instigator, now stepping forward with a deeply personal visual narrative.
