Evolving Soundscapes, il public programme musicale e performativo della mostra di Chiharu Shiota, a cura di Chiara Lee e freddie Murphy, arriva al suo ultimo appuntamento con KASAI, artista giapponese di casa Chinabot.
Con il suo approccio unico e trscinante, KASAI sperimenta a partire da due antichi stili folk giapponesi, l’Ondo e il Minyo, infondendoli di una modernità ipnotica ed esuberante attraverso beat e ritmi complessi tipici di footwork e juke. Come un moderno menestrello riporta il minyo alle sue radici quotidiane — le realtà materiali della vita di tutti i giorni, con le sue fatiche e le sue gioie senza tempo — offrendo uno sguardo raro sulla vita della classe lavoratrice contemporanea in Giappone.

With his unique exhilarating approch, KASAI has been experimenting with two ancient folk styles: Ondo and Minyo infusing them with a hypnotic and exuberant modernity through beats and complex rhythms of footwork and juke. Like a modern bard, he brings minyo back to its roots in the everyday — the material realities of ordinary life, with its timeless hardships and joys — making it a rare look into the life of the contemporary working-class in Japan.
