For my own first birth I was sadly lacking all of that and just showed up at the hospital and let the doctor “take care of me”. It took five more births, and a lot of researching on my part, before I felt like I owned the experience. As your mentor I am looking forward to providing guidance as you take ownership of your education so you can walk away with courage and confidence to face your birth journey.

When you take the EBB Childbirth Class, you will:

Get mentored by Laurie, your own Evidence Based Birth® Instructor

Learn about evidence based care, comfort measures, and advocacy

Get prepared, get answers, get empowered!

This class will meet every Tuesday for 6 weeks.

You will have about 2 hours of videos and reading material to do on your own time each week.

First Zoom session will be on Tuesday, November 5 from 6:30pm-8:30pm

The middle four Zoom calls will be on Tuesdays from 6:30pm-7:30pm

Final Zoom session will be on Tuesday, December 10 from 6:30pm-8:30pm

This class is friendly, evidence based, non-judgmental, and partner focused. The flipped classroom style enables you to take responsibility for your own learning while being guided by a mentor-- me!

When talking about their births you've probably heard your friends say things like, “I wasn't allowed to eat,” or “I had to be induced because I was overdue,” or “I had to be induced because my baby was getting too big,” or “I needed a c-section because my labor wasn't progressing,” or “My water broke so I had to get pitocin.” They probably felt like they didn't have a choice. In the EBB Childbirth class you'll learn the evidence about all of these situations. Armed with knowledge you will then be able to make choices. You will also learn advocacy skills to speak up for what you want. You will learn about various drug and non-drug comfort measures such as epidural, acupressure, dancing, music therapy, relaxation, and protecting the perineum.

6 Zoom calls with Laurie and classmates to discuss what you've learned during the week and to ask questions

Comfort Measures rehearsal at the last Zoom meeting-- your doula is invited to attend this!

3 months access to the Parents' Site where you will find all the videos for the class; a PDF library of evidence on 21 topics; acupressure quick guide and videos; relaxation audio tracks; 31 videos about natural labor induction, comfort measures, newborn procedures & more; inspiring birth videos; and a podcast of the course videos for a listen only option
