Scarlett is the Advocacy Officer at Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust and has a background in Ecology, with a particular interest in conservation ecology and community engagement. Over the past few years she and her colleagues have helped countless groups and individuals install wildlife ponds into their gardens and greenspaces, and they have seen excellent benefits both for biodiversity and people's wellbeing. Their new campaign "Living Waters" aims to increase awareness around the current state and importance of our water bodies. Wetlands and standing waters are often overlooked, especially those smaller in size. A simple garden pond, no matter the size, can act as a wildlife corridor and crucial link in the wider ecological network. A pond is one of the best things you can do for wildlife in your garden, and perhaps surprisingly is quite easy to create and maintain.
