How can we know whether our PPI has worked 'well'?
About this Event

Do not book a Researchers from East Anglia ticket if this does not apply when the Researchers from other regions (UK) tickets are full, email Georgina on [email protected] to be added to the waiting list.

Sessions are free for students and staff from the NIHR, NHS, UK universities, public sector institutions and registered charities based in the UK. Please USE a work-associated work email to register (e.g. .nhs.uk, .ac.uk etc.). This session is not suitable for researchers from the private sector. Please contact the organiser if you have any further questions.

Please note if you do not attend, without cancelling or notifying the team in advance. We will cancel any further tickets booked. We are seeing between 30-40% drop out rate and have large waiting lists- please allow another researcher an opportunity to attend.

PPI is seen as essential to improving the value and relevance of research, and the time, effort and energy expended to support it represents an investment in our research. But how can we evaluate the impact that our PPI has had, in order to know whether it has worked well and how it can be improved in the future?

This session is open to all research staff, but will particularly benefit researchers who have an established PPI strategy or are planning to incorporate PPI in their health research.

We will cover:

  • Why traditional evaluation is difficult for PPI
  • Planning for success
  • Monitoring and recording your impact
  • Why being clear and transparent about your PPI approach is important
  • Existing evaluation frameworks and tools
  • Reporting to funders and public contributors

Please note we work on PPI with adults; what's discussed can relate to all audiences; however, we do not specifically cover PPI with children or young people.
