About this Event
ESTIA draws inspiration from the Greek goddess of the home reflecting an energetic source of light, warmth and refuge and is based on a creative practice of examining how our bodies function as archives, synthesizing stories from our past and guiding us in the re-imagination and co-creation of our collective futures. It is initiated by the belief that our own bodies/archives deeply store memories, histories and traumas and through the analyzing, deconstructing and unfolding of our archives is how we move efficiently forward as a community and collective. Through our festival we are hoping to amplify various forms of storytelling exploring these concepts in literal and metaphorical ways through various mediums!
WHO WE ARE:
ESTIA Creative Home is an ecosystem of the arts that fosters collaboration between artists from all disciplines and connects them to new audiences by producing performance and educational opportunities around the NY area. It was founded in 2022 by Lydia Perakis & LOLA, and has ever since presented multiple festivals, variety shows and community classes. ESTIA events are rooted in sustainability and community and are an ecosystem of reciprocity. The circular pattern includes the ESTIA team sourcing funding to support artists when they show and practice their art. Artists then employ collaborators and present a meaningful body of work that gives back to the community. We pride ourselves in the fact that most of our events are fully self-produced with support of grassroots donations and collective volunteer effort. Finally, ESTIA has no limitations in the art forms it presents and completely dismantles any hierarchy, systematically placed on what art forms carry more value than others.
OUTLINE OF THE DAY: Events will happen throughout the festival run time in various spaces simultaneously including visual art installations, movement installations, live music performances, film projections, spoken word readings, physical theater etc. The audience will be wandering around the spaces in a live museum format and will eventually sit down for a stage performance starting at 8pm. The seating around the stage is in a 360 format (meaning it will not be a proscenium view). After the stage performance there will be a talk back with the artists and a chance to mingle.
Detailed schedule & artist lineup will be announced soon!
