About this Event


The Project:

Join us for a series of photography / creative sessions learning to see ERYRI through a new lens, whilst also caring for the landscape. Open to all who are curious, reflective, and ready to slow down and listen to the land.


Sun 29 March
Time: 10am - 2.30 pm
Location: Coed y Brenin, Beics Brenin meet at cafe
Session: Woodland Walk & Photography – exploring light, shadow, and use of long exposure techniques.
Requirement: Camera / camera phone



What to Bring:
The weather in North Wales can be quite variable. For your comfort and safety, we ask you to bring the following items:

· Sturdy, comfortable waterproof footwear with good traction and ankle support

· Waterproof jacket and trousers (essential even if the forecast is good)

· Warm fleece or jumper (not cotton)

· Warm hat and gloves

· Jacket or windbreaker (depending on the weather)

· Sit mat for seated outdoor activities

· Small backpack

· Water and snacks (if these aren’t in reusable packaging, please bring a bag for your rubbish)

· Thermos with a warm drink (if it's cold)

· Any Medic*tion that you require

· Walking poles if you want extra support on uneven ground

  • Packed Lunch and any snack needed


Ability Level Required:

You must be able to walk on unpaved paths and/or uneven ground.

Nearest toilets are located at Beics Betws toilets (if open)


BIO – Janet Ruth Davies

Janet Ruth Davies is a photographer, educator and visual artist living in rural north Wales. Her interdisciplinary practice engages with sites of heritage, creative geologies and the complex experiences of belonging that are rooted in identities, landscapes, and histories. A long time advocate of creative learning in the outdoors, she is excited to offer this mini series of photography sessions for the Outdoor Partnership.

Janet holds an MA in Documentary Photography from the University of South Wales, and is a lecturer at North West Hebrides UHI, Scotland.
