About Deprem Dayanisma:
On the morning of February 6th 2023, two earthquakes with a magnitude of 7.8 and 7.5 struck the areas of Adıyaman, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, Kilis, Osmaniye, Gaziantep, Malatya, Şanlıurfa, Diyarbakır, Elazig and Adana, where approximately 14 million people lived. After the disaster, on February 7th 2023 'Deprem Dayanisma' created Earthquake Solidarity Initiatives with volunteers in Hatay and Adıyaman Gölbaşı districts. Their coordination centers, which were rapidly set up to meet acute need, worked to produce fast solutions including search and rescue, food, hygiene, medicine and clothing to those worst affected by the earthquakes. Today in 2024, Deprem Dayanisma continue to maintain their work in the areas worst affected by the earthquake, focusing on agriculture, animal husbandry and ecology, education and the welfare of children and women, as well as rebuilding the cities and culture. Even a year and a half after the earthquake, many citizens remain homeless, living in tents, with their homes remaining as rubble. Deprem Dayanismamaintain their hard work to fight for shelter for those still living in temporary accommodation. By hosting a variety of events, they work to support the community. Most recently, in July 2024 they hosted a Women's Festival together with Hatay Earthquake Solidarity Society and Rimmen Women's Cooperative, providing a space for discussion, arts and culture - in solidarity with the slogan “Kentimizi Kuracağız, Kültürümüzü Yaşatacağız!” - “We Will Build Our City, We Will Keep Our Culture Alive!"
