NICOTINE CINEMA is an ongoing series of programs about tobacco curated by Tom Whiteside. This show will include two different versions of "Tobaccoland USA" made in 1939 by March of Time. Filming was done on the Buren Ellis farm near Bahama and in Liggett & Myers factories and warehouses in Durham. Also on the program is "Princess Nicotine; or, The Smoke Fairy" made by J. Stuart Blackton in 1909; "Cigarette Blues" featuring musician Sonny Rhodes made by Les Blank and Alan Govenar in 1985. Plus television commercials and other bits and butts of tobacco ephemera.
