35th Annual Music Under the Stars | Saturdays: Jazz & BluesIt’s the fourth annual Enchantment Blues & Guitars, curated once again by one of New Mexico’s most in-demand blues artists, Chris Dracup. This year’s installment, a tribute to the “Three Kings” of blues guitar – Albert King, B.B. King and Freddy King, will feature some of New Mexico’s top performing blues artists, including Dracup, Levi Platero, Rudy “Boy” Jaramillo, Stanlee Kee, Armando Ortega, and Tiho Dmitrov, joined by Brant Leeper on B3 organ and piano; Jose Romero, bass; Alex Moralez, drums; Brad Dubbs, trumpet; Lee Taylor, alto saxophone; Sam Nesbitt, bari sax; and Murray Kelly, rhythm guitar. In past years, Enchantment Blues & Guitars has provided a unique and exciting opportunity for top local artists to collaborate and perform together. Chris Dracup is a lifelong New Mexico songwriter, guitarist, performer and true original. Inducted into the New Mexico Music Hall of Fame in 2024, he is known for his soulful vocal style and masterful guitar performances, drawing from a wide range of musical styles – the Blues being his home base. His bottleneck slide playing evokes the southern delta tradition and his unique electric blues style is steeped in the classic Texas and Chicago tones while his original songwriting and regular performance schedule have garnered him critical and popular acclaim, earning him an enduring Southwestern fan base. For over four decades Dracup has been active as both a solo artist and as lead guitarist and vocalist with some of New Mexico’s top live bands including The Muttz, The Rattlecats, and Soul Kitchen. His most recent project – Chris Dracup: Funk of the West, artfully combines American funk and blues with Afro pop style percussion – keenly orchestrated with the dance floor in mind!
