About this Event
Join us for an engaging evening of networking, learning and discussion as we raise awareness of the challenges and solutions to healthcare and education in Somaliland. Together, we can break the cycle of poverty and improve lives, in this resilient yet under-served region.
On Thursday 28th November 2024 we will gather at Goodenough College in London, WC1N 2AB to explore the unique landscape of this aspiring region as it seeks to close gaps in poverty, develop communities and offer individuals a better chance at life.
We are particularly excited to host guest speaker Edna Adan Ismail: healthcare pioneer, women's rights advocate, and founder of the Edna Adan University and Hospital in Hargeisa, Somaliland. As a lifelong advocate for women's health and education, Edna has dedicated herself to reducing maternal mortality, training healthcare professionals, and campaigning tirelessly against female genital mutilation (FGM).
Recently awarded the prestigious Templeton Prize, Edna has also collaborated with organisations such as King’s College London and THET to elevate healthcare training in Somaliland to international standards. She brings a profound insight into the unique barriers and opportunities involved in transforming Somaliland's future, as well as her inspiring journey chronicled in her autobiography, A Woman of Firsts.
So whether you have interest in healthcare or education, want to learn more about this unique region, or are simply passionate about making an impact, don't miss this chance to expand your knowledge and network with like-minded individuals. Together, we can drive hope and progress in Somaliland.
We look forward to seeing you there!
