About this Event
Employment masterclass – Managing performance across the employment life-cycle
Managing performance effectively is a core challenge for employers at every stage of the employment relationship - from recruitment and probation through to ongoing performance management and exit. With upcoming changes to unfair dismissal rights and probationary periods under the ERA 2025 reforms, getting this right has never been more important.
In this practical and interactive session, Sophie Fulwell, Legal Director, and Emma Andersen, Solicitor, will explore how employers can confidently manage performance across the employment life-cycle while minimising legal risk. The session will focus on aligning fair and consistent performance management with evolving statutory rights, particularly in the early stages of employment.
Using real-world scenarios and interactive discussion, Sophie and Emma will examine:
- Performance expectations and risk at recruitment and probation stage
- Managing underperformance fairly in light of changes to unfair dismissal protection
- Practical steps to evidence, support and challenge performance issues
- Common pitfalls employers face and how to avoid them
This event will give attendees practical takeaways they can apply to make a real difference to the commercial and legal risks posed by underperforming employees.
Tea, coffee and pastries will be served from 8.30-9.00am
