About this Event
Emilia by Morgan Lloyd Malcolm
“I will never be at peace as long as I have no voice. I will not stop. I will not rest until I find words for all my daughters I will never know.”
This fiery, feisty and funny play was written for Shakespeare’s Globe at the height of the #Me Too movement. It is an irreverent take on the life of the real-life Emilia Bassano, probably the first woman to have poetry published under her own name, and probably Shakespeare’s mysterious lady of the sonnets. The play hijacks the stage revisioning, rewriting and reimagining HERstory.
