Join Alterna Savings for upcoming in-person workshops tailored for individuals interested in entrepreneurship or starting a business.


Ready to turn your business dream into reality? Alterna Savings is hosting a comprehensive two-part workshop designed specifically for aspiring entrepreneurs like you.

Session One focuses on building your foundation - you'll complete an interactive Business Model Canvas and master the essentials of business planning and budgeting.

Session Two takes you to the next level with cash flow management, investment readiness, credit fundamentals, and how Alterna can support your entrepreneurial journey.

This program is designed as a complete two-part experience, so plan to attend both sessions to get the full entrepreneurial toolkit and maximize your time investment.

About the Presenters
Jean Barrett
Manager, Community Microfinance Program

Jean Barrett brings over 25+ years of banking experience in the Retail and Commercial sectors. As the Manager of Alterna Savings’ award-winning Community Microfinance Program, she oversees eight community microloan portfolios and manages 250+ small business borrowers in the Greater Toronto Area and Ottawa Region annually.

Certified in financial literacy, Jean advises individuals, entrepreneurs, and small businesses, and she frequently speaks on business planning, credit, budgeting, and financing. She also supports our Community Loan Fund partnerships.


Jessica Scott
Credit Officer, Community Microfinance Program

Jessica Scott is a dedicated Community Impact and Microfinance professional at Alterna Savings, where she serves as a Credit Officer for our Community Microfinance Program. In this role, she provides access to capital and affordable financial solutions for underserved entrepreneurs and organizations, helping them achieve sustainable growth and success.

Beyond her work at Alterna, Jessica serves as Project Coordinator/Director on the board of a youth-focused organization, fostering leadership and positive social change among young people.

Passionate about financial inclusion and community empowerment, Jessica continues creating opportunities that strengthen economic resilience across our communities.
