Society Hill Synagogue and Old Pine Street Presbyterian Church invite you to a public, interfaith screening of Elie Wiesel: Soul on Fire, followed by a post-screening conversation with special guest filmmaker Oren Rudavsky.
Eighty years after his liberation from Buchenwald, the documentary offers an intimate portrait of Elie Wiesel, looking beyond Night to explore his life as a Holocaust survivor, writer, teacher, and public moral voice. Told largely through Wiesel’s own words and voice, the film draws on rare archival material, original interviews, and hand-painted animation.
Following the screening, filmmaker Oren Rudavsky will join Rabbi Nathan Kamesar of Society Hill Synagogue and Pastor Jason Ferris of Old Pine Street Presbyterian Church for a facilitated conversation reflecting on Wiesel’s legacy and the role of remembrance, faith, and moral responsibility in our shared civic life.
This inter-congregational program is open to the public and welcomes participants from across religious traditions and the broader Philadelphia community.
