El Viaje de la Marimba es un retrato vivo de como la música ancestral se nutre del suelo en el que nace o del aire que respiran sus creadores. En Dakar el Balafonista Djyby Diabaté y el marimbero colombiano Candelario Gonzalez, conversan con sus instrumentos. En Chiapas, México con Carlos Nandayapa e Israel Moreno transitamos el camino de una marimba negra que se convirtió en el instrumento popular de ese país. En las calles de Nueva York, Dan Neville presenta su trabajo de jazz inspirado en el aprendizaje recibido del maestro colombiano Diego Obregón. En Esmeraldas Ecuador el marimbero Larry Preciado revela la conexión del pueblo negro ecuatoriano y el colombiano. En Stuttgart, Alemania el compositor Magnus Lingrend y Candelario se encuentran en el formato Big Band y su poderoso sonido. En Barbacoas, un pueblo afrodescendiente del pacífico colombiano, asistimos al embrujo natural de una marimba tradicional.
El Viaje de la Marimba is a living portrait of how ancestral music is nourished by the soil in which it is born or the air its creators breathe. In Dakar, the balafons Djyby Diabaté and the Colombian marimbero Candelario Gonzalez, talk with their instruments. In Chiapas, Mexico with Carlos Nandayapa and Israel Moreno, we walked the path of a black marimba that became the popular instrument in that country. On the streets of NewYork, Dan Neville presents his jazz work inspired by the learning he received from Colombian maestro Diego Obregón. In Esmeraldas Ecuador, the marimbero Larry Preciado reveals the connection between the Ecuadorian and Colombian black people. In Stuttgart, Germany, the composer Magnus Lindgren and Candelario meet in the Big Band format and its powerful sound. In Barbacoas, an Afro-descendant town in the Colombian Pacific, we witness the natural spell of a traditional marimba.
