Synopsis
Ronnie Monroy has spent his life as an anonymous public employee. Approaching retirement at the age of 65, he discovers a new purpose when he begins helping women in Pr*son regain their freedom and return to their lives. What appears to be an act of generosity and affection gradually reveals something far more disturbing: a need to exercise power over vulnerable women.
Through Ronnie’s story, El caso Monroy offers a provocative reflection on abuse, control and the corruption embedded within the judicial system.
Written and directed by Josué Méndez and starring Damián Alcázar, El caso Monroy is based on the book Día de visita by Marco Avilés. The film was presented at the Málaga Film Festival and the PUCP Lima Film Festival.
