Spring continues at EIJN! On May 16th, we warmly welcome you to a new DEEP DIVE evening in collaboration with EIJN, featuring DJ and founder of DEEP DIVE M.U. (Michele Uccheddu) alongside Vesu’s Music (Vesa-Matti Kivioja). They will shape an intimate and immersive musical atmosphere, inviting deep listening and presence within the bar space.📀 DEEP DIVE is an event organization born out of a deep passion for music, with the goal of creating a welcoming environment where sound, atmosphere, and human connection meet.
Throughout the evening, you will be surrounded by works from our new artist of the month, Anneli Holmström. By highlighting one visual artist each month, we aim to bring attention to local artistic voices and celebrate the vibrant creative scene of Ostrobothnia.
Come and indulge in an evening of music, art, and good vibes.
A warm welcome ❤️
Anneli
Anneli Holmström is a Scottish/Finnish artist currently based in Turku Finland.
Beginning from an expanded painting approach Anneli Holmströms work combines painting methods with sculptural, per formative and collaborative aspects. A re-turning interest is storytelling methods in visual art and how storytelling can be used to frame experience. Unlike narratives aimed at direct readings, the work embraces ambiguity and intuition - where visual storytelling is explored as a tool to articulate pre-verbal thoughts and knowledge. Through this process of visualising the tacit art making is viewed as a way to re- assess psychological narrative conventions – that while individual may also be – collectivised and shared.
Since graduating from a Masters at Edinburgh College of Art in 2009, Holmstrom has exhibited widely in solo and group exhibitions in her home countries of Finland and Scotland as well as abroad. Notable exhibition venues include; 'Writers Shift' at the Fruitmarket Gallery in Edinburgh, (2022) Memory Palace at Gallerie AMU in Prague (2019), SUMMA at the Royal Scottish Academy (2017) solo show -}}}}}} : {{{+}}} at Summer Hall (2017). Residencies that have had a significant impact on her practice include, HANGARS Center for Artistic research in Lisbon, Ethiopia Walkscapes in Africa, Beishan Hall in Zhuhai China, RSA residencies for Scotland at the Pier Arts Center in Stromness, Moon Gazing a 6th month irl online residency with Icing room and Muddy Yard. Holmstroms next up coming residency will be for tow months at Villa Karo in Benin in 2026.
