About this Event
In this experimental original script, we follow the journey of a piece of land as it moves through various incarnations, from its role as an object of real-estate, to its primordial eco-systemic roots, to a vacant space for the aspiring human imagination.
The play is performed as a table reading, traditionally the moment that a play is first read aloud by cast and crew. This is the moment the words of a script jump off the page, and into the bodies of the performers. We find ourselves in a familiar setting: an ordinary conference room, which transforms scenographically into a tangle of locales. Underpinning the surface activity of urban life, we explore how this setting operates as a confluence point of diverse administrative cultures.
This story emerges from a slow practice of dwelling, walking. Of observing survival and collaborative practices of birds, trees, cats, garbage; the blurrings between concrete, fur, dust and ghost. The city embodies itself through many beings, human and non-human.

Noush Anand is an interdisciplinary artist based in Dubai. Her work is informed by the space she inhabits, and the collaborative opportunities she encounters, with other musicians, visual artists, filmmakers. She has a performing practice as a vocalist and songwriter, under the moniker Noush Like Sploosh.
Her work is located amongst the discomfort, pleasure, confusion and awkwardness emerging from her commitment to local co-existence. She is interested in how embodiment and space are mutually porous, and in constant fluctuation. Walking and voicework are the center of her creative process.
From these somatic practices, her work emerges in the shape of songs, poetry, music videos. This project pushes Noush’s practice into new territory of script-writing, whilst also revisiting her previous life as a theatre practitioner, as a scenographer.
Noush holds a BFA from Concordia University (Montreal) in Theatre Design & Film Animation , and is currently completing her MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts from Goddard College (Vermont), concentrating on Performance.

Anurag Tripathi - Inayat
Anurag has lived in the UAE since 1997. Starting his career with Majid Al Futtaim, he has grown with the city of Dubai, evolving from role to role in various capacities such as marketing, advertising, operations.
He is the drummer for rock & roll band, Core304, in 2010 and are still performing. His personal passion and family heritage with music led him to deepen his relationship with sound. He is currently a professional sound engineer, and runs his own video and sound production company in Dubai called Tripenator Productions.

Aseya Nasib - Geanie
Aseya Nasib is an Emirati-American body love and empowerment coach, soul led entrpreneur and mental wellness advocate. Through a combination of holistic and traditional practices, she teaches women how to harness the transformative powers of self-love and self-acceptance in order to create and live their best lives.
As a firm believer that mental wellness is a right and not a luxury, Aseya runs regular community breath work and meditation sessions and is passionate about sharing her personal history with mental illness.
She has recently overcome a debilitating OCD and anxiety crisis and has gone on to create two successful businesses, while sharing her story. She is also in the process of launching a support network for female business owners in Dubai.

Husam Hilali - Badr
Husam is a multidisciplinary writer, a published author and TV producer from Sudan with 18 years of experience in media and the cultural field. He has a rich portfolio of published articles and reports in many newspapers, magazines and websites, as well as participation in the development and production of several plays, exhibitions, cultural events, documentaries, TV shows and commercials since 2003.
He is an experienced cultural manager and cofounder of several media and online platforms. In addition, he brings a strong personal commitment to media content, communication, artistic practices, and literature. He brings his ability to work independently and as a valuable team member in difficult and challenging environments with a wide network of talents and institutions in The Middle East, East Africa, West Europe and California.

Lucky Schild a.k.a Swerte - Sound Design
Swerte was born in Indonesia and claims Swiss/Indonesian heritage. He founded and established hiphop ensemble, The Recipe, in Dubai in 2008, as a collective of 12 MC’s. the group quickly became one of the most recognizable faces for hiphop and rap in the region. With a constant stream of music released over the years through their own label, the Recipe has opened for artists such as Snoop Dogg, Skepta, Macklemore, Rick Ross, 50 Cent, De La Soul, Cypress Hill, Mobb Deep, Fat Joe, Akon, Stormzy and many more.

Safa Alebedy - Video Documentation
Safa Alabedy is an Emirati filmmaker and documentary maker in the UAE. Her work spans over two decades producing, directing & editing music videos, short films, and behind-the-scenes footage. Her personal practice includes cataloging the journeys of the regional hiphop scene, including acclaimed groups such as The Recipe. She works professionally with Dubai Media Inc. and includes voice-over work in her practice.
Azarel Fernandes - Technical Director
Azarel is multi-brained creator that is fuelled by his need to figure things out and somehow create magic with tech, music, video, and whatever falls in between. Based in Dubai, when he's not spending time with computers, he pets his cats and ponders the meaning of his existence.
Gaya Krishnan - Creative Producer
Gaya is the founder of creative studio ‘Stories by Gaya’ based between Dubai/Mumbai - telling stories through film, music, writing, podcasts, photography and design.
As a singer/songwriter, Gaya is a pioneer in the region. Her debut album ‘The Unknown’ was the result of a highly successful crowdfunding campaign raising over $23,000 in ten days through a first of its kind campaign in the region. She has toured the States & Asia, performing at legendary spaces like Joe’s Pub NYC & BlueFrog Mumbai, collaborated with Grammy-winner Joss Stone and opened for Florence & the Machine. Gaya is an ambassador of RedBull music & Sennheiser microphones.
She works as a Creative Director/ Brand Consultant/Content Creator & Strategist, making content for her own independent platforms as well as brands like Volkswagen, Bloomingdale’s, Chloe, Uber, Ounass, Red Bull & Label M to name a few.
Gaya’s focus is always on creating brand value beyond the purpose of selling and to be instrumental in helping people & brands connect with their audience by telling stories.
