About this Event
Join Tyson Mastel and Devon Moar for a guided tour of École Greenfield School, designed by trailblazing queer architects Mary Imrie and Jean Wallbridge. Together, they founded Canada's first all-female architectural partnership—and were life partners as well.
Opened in 1968, Greenfield showcases design elements that have stood the test of time while adapting to the needs of today’s students. Participants will learn how the school has evolved over the decades and will discover how the school’s principles connect to many of Wallbridge & Imrie’s 224 projects, including their combined home and office, Six Acres, in southwest Edmonton.
Your guides bring both personal and academic expertise: Devon Moar authored the thesis Six Acres: The Residence & Office of Edmonton Architectural Partnership, Wallbridge & Imrie, while Tyson Mastel, Assistant Principal at École Greenfield, wrote the picture book The Girls: The Wild and Wondrous Lives of Jean Wallbridge and Mary Imrie.
