About this Event
Spending half the year in Costa Rica has given Dee Webb a unique perspective on the country’s remarkable landscapes and wildlife. For those dreaming of exploring this biodiverse destination, Dee shares insights gained from working with local guides, practicing ethical photography in sensitive environments, and capturing the beauty of hummingbirds in flight. Her presentation combines practical tips, personal experiences, and inspiring stories to help audiences see Costa Rica through the eyes of both a photographer and a conservationist.

Dee Webb is a photography guide and instructor whose journey began in the heart of the Australian Outback, where she spent her childhood marveling at the natural world. At 17, she traveled to Canada on a student exchange program and landed on Birdseye Ranch, right beside the stunning Waterton Lakes National Park. She often jokes that she forgot to go home, as she fell in love with southern Alberta and made it her home for 30 years. Today, Dee divides her time between the lush landscapes of Costa Rica and the dramatic vistas of Waterton, spending half the year in each paradise.
Her passion for photography grew out of her lifelong love of nature and the outdoors. Even as a child, she saw the world differently, spending hours observing ants and other fascinating creatures that were abundant in Australia. As her own children grew, her fascination with photography deepened, and now she is rarely seen without a camera in hand, ever-ready to capture the beauty around her.
Dee is proud to be a co-owner of Focus Photo Tours, a company dedicated to ethical, conservation-driven adventures. In 2025, her work has taken her to Alaska, Brazil, and Churchill, with Costa Rica up next. When not leading global tours, she hosts private photography experiences in Waterton Lakes National Park, helping photographers capture everything from the drama of the elk rut to the delicate details of wildflowers. Dee’s approach blends technical instruction with mindfulness, and creativity inspiring both stronger portfolios and deeper connections to nature.
