'Scotland's string quartet' presents the fourth in their St Cecilia's series. The programme opens with Beethoven’s bold C minor Quartet from his Op. 18 set. Sally Beamish’s Quartet No. 2, inspired by this work and written after her return from California, offers a lighter, more open reimagining of Beethoven, coloured by American influences. The concert closes with Webern’s early Langsamer Satz, glowing with late-Romantic lyricism.
The concert takes place in Scotland's oldest concert hall, the beautiful St Cecilia's Hall, at 1pm.
