Come along and hear from leaders in Edinburgh’s regenerative economy movement as we talk sharing vs consumerism!
About this Event

People Planet Pint Presents is your chance to learn more about weird and wonderful topics related to sustainability.

We take big ideas and serve them up as pint-sized knowledge in the relaxed setting of a local pub. It’s where curious minds and passionate speakers come together over a drink to explore what’s happening in their community - from nature and science to local politics and everything in between.

Hear from inspiring individuals and experts on topics you might never have discovered otherwise. We’re bringing big conversations off the stage and into the pub to deliver thought-provoking, accessible talks that inform, inspire, and spark new ideas.

Whether you already know all about sharing libraries or if you’re new to the idea, ELoT co-founder Alix will be explaining the whole concept, letting us know how it’s going so far, and (probably) answering all your burning questions about peer to peer circularity and sharing library solutions to some of humanities most pressing crises.
Alix will be diving into:

  • Let’s Talk Economics- Degenerative Model vs Regenerative and Circular Models
  • What is a Library of Things?
  • How does the Edinburgh Library of Things Work?
  • The importance of supporting Regenerative Initiatives- Us vs. Crises
  • Future directions

Bio:
Alix DeMitchell is a University of Florida and Bournemouth University graduate holding three separate undergraduate degrees in Spanish, Psychology and Games Programming.

None of these areas of study are economics, as you may have noticed, so imagine her surprise when her passion turned out to be circular and regenerative economics and implementing people-first solutions to the climate and cost of hoarding crisis!

She has worked in social care, self employed artistry in several disciplines, and the circus. She firmly believes that (many) people are good and that we can still turn this ship around!

Talks will last 30 - 40 minutes and open up for Q+A afterwards so you can ask our expert speakers whatever you want. It's informal and social where you can stick around after for a drink or two and keep the ideas flowing!
