About this Event
Join Team Breakthrough T1D and fundraise for us at the Edinburgh Marathon Running Festival 2025 by taking on either the marathon, half marathon, team relay, 10K, 5K or any of the junior runs.
Sign up to Team Breakthrough T1D and we will support you with:
- Breakthrough T1D running vest
- Fundraising pack with lots of hints and tips to maximise your fundraising
- Regular contact with Breakthrough T1D staff to help and encourage you in the lead up to the event
- Welcome from Breakthrough T1D staff and volunteers at the marathon & half marathon finish area to celebrate your achievement!
Whether this is your first 5k or you are an experienced marathon runner, we hope that you can raise lots of money for us so we can continue funding life-changing type 1 diabetes research and supporting people living with type 1.

How to sign up for a charity place
To secure your place with us you need to do the following:
Step 1: Pay your non-refundable registration fee to us by clicking the orange register button.
Step 2: Visit the Edinburgh Marathon Festival website to register your Breakthrough T1D place with them.
(If you have already completed this step then you should get confirmation of your place shortly.)
Step 3: Set up your Just Giving page here
Target Sponsorship
The moment you have your Edinburgh Marathon Festival place and have paid your registration fee we will send you a running pack full of information, with lots of ideas on how to raise as much money as possible. We would ask that you commit to raising a minimum amount of sponsorship :
- Edinburgh Marathon Festival 5k: £100
- Edinburgh Marathon Festival 10k: £250
- Edinburgh Marathon Festival – half marathon: £250
- Edinburgh Marathon Festival – full marathon: £550
- Edinburgh Marathon Festival - team relay: £600
- Edinburgh Marathon Festival Junior Runs: £100
Already got a place?
If you have your own place in the Edinburgh Marathon Festival and would like to run for us we’d be thrilled to have you on the team. There is no minimum sponsorship if you have your own place, but aim high and you will be amazed at what you can achieve to support our work. Please let us know about your run so we can support you on your journey!
