Ecstatic Dance Oakland: A Samhain Celebration & Community Altar of RemembranceJoin us for a special Samhain Celebration - a time to honor the turning of the seasons, the thinning of the veil, and the loved ones and cycles that have crossed into spirit. Together, we’ll move through dance as a ritual of remembrance, release, and renewal, guided by the musical duo Sontéa with a curated set to awaken joy and reverence.
This gathering features a community altar by The Marigold Project, a San Francisco–based nonprofit that honors the cycle of life and death through cultural education, art, writing therapy, workshops, and altar-building practices. Their work connects us through participatory art, healing rituals, and ceremonies of remembrance.
We invite you to bring photos or mementos of loved ones, or symbols of anything you’re grieving or releasing, to place on the altar in collective honoring. Together, we dance the sacred rhythm of life, death, and rebirth.

Let the dance be your language, we keep the floor a space of movement rather than words.
Follow what feels true in your body, honor your own boundaries, and practice consent in every interaction.
We gather in a clear, substance-free field, no alcohol or drugs.
Please keep phones away so we can be fully present together.
Dance barefoot if you can, or wear soft-soled dance shoes if needed.
This is a community space open to all ages and expressions.

Leela Maya started her journey as a raw vegan dessert chef in 2007 at Cafe Gratitude. It was working there that she discovered the power of intention, community, & how truly nourishing food felt like sensual kitchen witch craft for her soul. It was love at first bite.
She has also developed products for Urban Remedy and Good Earth Natural Foods in Marin.

In addition to her kitchen craft, Leela is a practicing Acolyte Priestess of Isis and ceremonialist, offering Full & New Moon Circles, and Cacao Ceremonies, using improv, astrology, tarot, and the power of play.

Alessandra/Aless, is a dancer, yogini, tea amateur and cacao passionate!
She often starts her day with a cup of tea. From Puer to herbal infusions, she appreciates the medicine of plants. When she sits for her meditation or movement practice, a cup of tea guides her to focus and be present.
She enjoys serving tea, having conversations and creating a cosy space. During her travels all around the world she had the opportunity and interest to learn about medicinal plants and tea. She is continuously learning and humbled by the culture of tea in China and Japan.
Alessandra loves crafting herbal blends combining medicinal properties in tea, but above all, she is a passionate chocolate maker! Her recent creation, La Gourmande, delicious raw cacao truffles, pair divinely with tea. Both tea herbal blends and cacao truffles are available for purchase.
With her open heart, she will be serving tea every Wednesdays nights.
