Joachim Lacrosse – sitar & composition
Uma Ramakrishnan – vocals
Balakumar Paramalingam – mridangam
Gerard Spencer – handpan & didgeridoo
Brussels-based sitar player Joachim Lacrosse brings together on stage, for the very first time, his two main projects: SITARDUST, in which he collaborates with Carnatic music virtuosos Uma Ramakrishnan and Balakumar Paramalingam, and Around the World in 80 Sounds, a young audience performance created as a duo with the dynamic handpan player Gerard Spencer.
Through these projects, Joachim Lacrosse has performed in numerous Belgian venues and festivals such as Théâtre Molière (Muziekpublique), le 140, Botanique, Flagey, Arsonic, Ferme du Biéreau, Les Chiroux, Jazz à Liège, Jam’in Jette, Nuit Solaire and Europalia India, as well as in many cultural centres across the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, including Art Base. He has also toured in Flanders, the Netherlands, France and India.
With SITARDUST, he released two albums on the Liège-based label Homerecords (2016 and 2023). Together with Gerard Spencer, he also released the album Borderless Project in 2021.
Expect to be swept away, surprised and deeply moved by this Belgian-Indian fusion, where the sitar creates “a fiercely hypnotic bridge” (La Libre Belgique) between the raga and tala of South India and the ethereal, enchanting textures of the handpan.
A powerful immersive experience — both meditative and electrifying — an inner and outer journey that will leave a lasting impression.
