About this Event
Calgary welcomed the industry as oil was shaping the western Canadian landscape. In the 1950s, however, the expansion faced much community resistance. Come walk through the former refinery lands and learn the history including its relationship to Deerfoot Trail and Ralph Klein. This walk is led by Laura Combden, a Calgary filmmaker with an interest in community and local history.
MEETING SPOT: 5305 Ogden Road - Refinery Park- First Parking Lot
WALK NOTES: Steep slopes, uneven terrain, fast paced / covering a lot of ground, will use speakers / voice amplification, no washrooms
***Please note, we ask that folks cancel their tickets through Eventbrite if they can no longer make it to a walk as tickets are limited. This allows folks on the waitlist to take open spots.***
