Garden Design Charette, and collaboration with the Oakland Peace CenterAre you interested in Edible and Native/Pollinator Garden Design? Do you have experience with garden design, bay area planting seasonality, or are you curious about such things? Then make sure to come to our next meeting, where we will be discussing an awesome collaboration the Guild has with the Oakland Peace Center (OPC)!
Background: OPC has a number of garden beds around their property that are in need of some attention. The Guild has been given the opportunity to create a vision for these spaces and implement that vision over the course of the next few months. Produce and herbs from this garden will go to non-profit organizations that are tenants of the OPC which will distribute them to the food insecure folks that they serve.
What is a charette?
A permaculture design charrette (pronounced "shuh-ret") is an intensive, collaborative workshop where a group of people works together to quickly generate a design for a specific landscape or project.
In the permaculture world, it is often used to "crowdsource" wisdom for a specific site—like a backyard, community garden, or even a larger farm—by bringing together multiple perspectives to solve design challenges.

What to Bring
* A dish to share (if you can) — please label allergens
* Your own reusable plate, cup, and utensils if possible (we’ll have some backups but want to reduce waste)
* Flyers or resources from aligned projects
* Your ideas, questions, and curiosity about permaculture and the future of the guild
Kitchen Note
We cannot use the church stove due to insurance requirement (cost therein), so please bring food ready to serve at room temperature or in containers that don’t require stovetop cooking on site. We’ll have access to the sink and basic cleanup area. (Or bring a hotplate/crockpot)
