A Washington Tradition: Worship at the Dawn of Easter!
Join thousands for an unforgettable morning at the 2026 Easter Sunrise Service at the Lincoln Memorial. On Sunday, April 5, 2026, at 6:30 AM, the historic steps of the Lincoln Memorial will transform into a place of worship and reflection. Hosted by National Community Church, this 45-year tradition brings together people of all backgrounds to declare that "Christ is Risen" as the first light of day hits the Reflecting Pool.
Whether you are a D.C. local or a visiting tourist, standing on the same steps where Dr. King delivered his "I Have a Dream" speech while singing songs of praise is a life-changing experience. This free, outdoor service features live music, an inspiring message, and a community atmosphere unlike any other in the nation.

- Lawns: There is vast space on the surrounding lawns. Many spectators bring blankets or lightweight collapsible camp chairs.
- The Steps: Guests are also welcome to sit on the steps leading up to the Lincoln Memorial.
4. Weather & Attire: It is significantly colder at the Lincoln Memorial due to the wind off the Potomac River. It is often 10 degrees colder than the forecasted temperature. Dress in warm layers. Whether you wear your "Easter Best" or comfortable sweats, prioritize staying warm!
