About this Event
Rev Andy will talk about what he learnt though writing a historical novel 'Jesus the Troublemaker'. The various accounts in the New Testament seem to tell different stories about Easter. But they all come together if we ask the simple question, 'Where was Peter?'
And what did the Temple authorities make of the events of that first Christian Pentecost?
The geography of Jerusalem is key to understanding what happened and why. That's why every time I visit Jerusalem I go to see the amazing model of first century Jerusalem in the Israel Museum.
Jerusalem, the Lower City. You can see the south wall of the Temple, the Kidron Gate at the bottom, and at the top by the trees the site of Golgotha and the empty tomb.
The road from Bethany to Jerusalem is now a cats cradle of motorways, checkpoints and the separation barrier, aka the apartheid wall. This 1900 photo gives a much better picture of what the village might have been like in Jesus' time.
