Beyond Gloom, Doom, & Division
Host: Susan Meredith

Info: Growing global energy demand requires every available energy source and every possible efficiency. Most people want to make a positive difference; what they lack is clarity, motivation, and a way to see their impact. What if there were a way to move people up the sustainability-engagement curve more quickly and willingly? EcoCampaigns shift the narrative away from doom and gloom and instead spotlight practical, high-impact products, efficiency boosters, and clear educational concepts—combined with rewards, recognition, and measurable results. The model motivates participation, builds confidence, and helps bridge divides around climate and sustainability. In this session participants will engage with real-world motivators and inhibitors uncovered through recent sustainability research, explore the potential of gamified engagement strategies, and co-create a framework for tracking and celebrating collective progress.

The Built Environment is a Climate System We Can Actually Control
Host: Amy Polvado

Info: How AI, Proptech, and Infrastructure Intelligence Can Cut Emissions at Scalw

Buildings account for ~40% of global emissions—this frames real estate as the climate battleground.

Climate change will not be solved by energy alone. It will be solved by how we design, site, finance, operate, and retrofit buildings and infrastructure—using AI to make better decisions faster.

Key Talking Points:

Why climate progress stalls when land use, buildings, and infrastructure are treated as “slow-moving”
How AI-driven underwriting, site selection, and operations can materially reduce emissions
Data centers, logistics, housing, and cities as leverage points—not liabilities
What policymakers, investors, and developers can do now (not in 2040)

The Blue Economy: Art, Innovation, and Ocean Solutions with ORAI
Host: Shelby Thomas

Info: The ocean sustains life on Earth, yet many of its most vital ecosystems, especially coral reefs and coastal habitats, are rapidly declining. This talk explores how the emerging blue economy can drive regenerative solutions by blending science, innovation, and creative projects to finance restoration sustainably. Through the work of Ocean Rescue Alliance International (ORAI) and Coastal Resilience Solutions (CRS), marine scientist Dr. Shelby Thomas highlights how art-inspired reef installations, scalable restoration technologies, and nature-based coastal infrastructure can rebuild marine ecosystems while supporting resilient coastal communities.

By integrating ecological engineering with public engagement and creative design, these projects demonstrate how restoration can serve as both an environmental solution and an economic opportunity. From habitat-mimicking artificial reefs to innovative coral and oyster restoration systems, this presentation offers a vision for a thriving blue ec

The Sushi Warrior - Human Enslavement in Illegal Fishing
Host: Fred Garth

Info: My latest novel, The Sushi Warrior, is a collaboration with renowned artist and conservationist Guy Harvey. The plot focuses on illegal fishing and human enslavement in the $20B global tuna industry. The book tells a tragic real-life story using the lure of fiction as well as the amazing illustrations by Guy.

I've been using a Powerpoint to educate students and adult about the fact that illegally caught seafood ends up on our dinner plates and in our restaurants, some of it harvested by enslaved workers.

My presentation also touches on our high-tech ability to track fishing fleets (legal and illegal) all over the planet yet, sadly, there is little or no enforcement when fishing laws are broken. The result is a billion dollar illegal, unregulated and unreported seafood black market.

My goal is to educate, entertain and hopefully, garner support for greater open-ocean enforcement of criminal activity.
