About this Event

Earth Ritual

We’re gathering together to co-create a January ritual- a transition moment of stepping into a new calendar year; setting our intentions and connecting with the dreams we hold for ourselves and for the earth in 2024.

Featuring breathtaking performances from some of Bristol's best circus artists

Ritual held by Evva Semenowicz.

THIS WORK IS A WORK IN PROGRESS SHOWING SO WE WILL APPRECIATE ANY FEEDBACK TO HELP US DEVELOP OUR CONCEPT.

We are Of The Wild - An Ecological Circus Collective

Of The Wild is an innovative collective of acrobats, aerialists, dancers, singers, and musicians, dedicated to exploring the intersection of ritual, performance, and ecology.

Through a unique blend of earth based ritual and performance we tell new stories of wholeness & interconnection. Encouraging a sense of care & custodianship through acts of celebration and gratitude for life upon this planet.

By returning performance to its roots, we hope to weave together the metaphorical language of visual art with ecological activism to deepen our connection to the earth and a sense of kinship with all beings.

The show: Earth Ritual

Evva will guide you through the ritual to set your intentions and wishes for the earth 2024. There will be guided meditation, embodied movement, singing and drumming. You are welcome to participate as much or as little as you want in the ritual.

About us

Rooted in collaboration with nature, we work with the cycles, seasons and harmonies of nature to inspire and inform our work. By infusing performers with landscape, the stage being alive, that interacts with us as we interact with it, each informs & expands the other, creating space for a limitless language of expression.

We offer an inspiring space for everyone to breath through performance & landscape to deepen our connection/relationship to the earth, a sense of kinship with all beings, recognising we are nature and we are of the wild. We are advocates for natures rights, reciprocity, kinship, relationship to nature, social change.

Mission

We believe there is a call to creative minds to respond to the ecological crisis . As the ecosystems that sustain life begin to fail there isn’t a more important time to marry ecological activism with the metaphorical language of art in a way that stirs peoples hearts & minds into positive action for a regenerative future.

Interdisciplinary Approach

Our interdisciplinary and holistic approach weaves together art, circus, dance, singing, music, ecology, environmental philosophy, ancient cosmologies, ritual & the wild back into performance.

Our performances explore the rich intersection of embodied practice, environmental philosophy and ecological thinking to cultivate deep reflections on how we live as creative custodians upon the Earth.

Not one thing is going to solve this crisis. We need multiple solutions & approaches, we need to reach across genre & disciplines to co-create the ideas that couldn’t have come into being without the provocations & dialogue of collaborative action. It’s the weaving together of art & science, factual & imaginable that will help us build new ideas & structures to find new ways of knowing & creating, moving towards a future where everything is interconnected.

Method

Through a unique blend of earth based ritual and performance we tell new stories of wholeness & interconnection. Encouraging a sense of care & custodianship through acts of celebration and gratitude for life upon this planet.

Our performances are immersive and participatory, through ecological embodiment we hope to have a positive impact on our audience, encouraging regeneration & reciprocity with the earth for a sustainable future.

We hope to engage in social change and reconnect our audience with their relationship to the earth through facilitated workshops and earth based performance.
