About this Event
Join the Friends of the Mount Vernon Trail to help remove trash from the marsh near Marina Towers on the Mount Vernon Trail.
Volunteers may perform some of the following work:
- Picking up trash
What to Bring:
- Water
- Gloves (We'll have some to borrow)
- Long sleeves and long pants
- Waterproof Boots if you have them as it might be muddy
Where to Meet:
The work area is on the Mount Vernon Trail in the marsh near Marina Towers. We will be meeting further north on the trail since there is more space to set up equipment. See pictures below for directions.

Parking:
If arriving via car you have the option to either park at Dangerfield Island (approx. 0.6 mile walk) or park near the old Power Plant (approx. 0.5 mile walk). See pictures below for directions. We will have signs and red arrows on the trail to help guide you.
Group Volunteering:
We welcome groups to come volunteer at our events. If you plan on having more than 10 people come on a particular weekend, just let us know via email ([email protected]) no less than one week prior to the day of the event. It is critical that you reach out and ensure everyone volunteering with your group registers through this EventBrite link so we can better plan work scope, prepare supplies, and promote your group’s attendance on social media.
