About this Event

Come celebrate Earth Day with us and do a good turn in the neighbourhood.

Refreshments and snacks will be provided. Please bring a clean reusable water bottle or mug.

Join your family, friends and neighbours to clean up the outdoor space around Islington United Church located at 25 Burnhamthorpe Road.

Our grounds and green space offers members and the community a great space to walk dogs, quietly reflect on our park benches, and help grow food in our Giving Garden to support our local food bank. The area is also used as an outdoor activity space by various groups and for community events.

If you have gardening tools, bring them along!

  • gardening gloves
  • rakes, hoes, small shovels, brooms, etc.
  • a pail with a handle for picking up garbage, twigs and pine cones

Something for everyone! There will be opportunities for all ages and stages, and all ranges of ability — family activities, light gardening, heavy-duty yard work. We have it all!

Children and Youth Activities:

  • craft table to convert collected pinecones into a bird feeder or hanging decoration
  • opportunity for young artists to paint signs for the Giving Garden

Education Session for Urban Gardeners:

  • Heavenly Fusion Gardens representatives will be on hand to share insight on how you can create a “fusion garden” in your backyard or on your apartment patio, and will give you a native plant to get you started (while supplies last; quantities are limited)
  • Islington’s Green Team will also provide tours of the church’s hydroponics setup, green room, and native plant garden

The Church Yard Cleanup is rain or shine, so dress for the weather!
