About this Event
Celebrate Earth Day at Canopy Studios with a free evening of creativity, nature, and community. 🌎🌿
Wednesday April 22 | 6–8 PM
Canopy Studios
1723 9th St SW, Calgary
Join Andrea Merredew for a playful Eco Art activity inspired by the natural world. Together we’ll also brainstorm ideas for Canopy’s future sensory garden, exploring how art, plants, and thoughtful outdoor spaces can support wellbeing, creativity, and connection.
Enjoy poetry readings and explore the exhibition Wild Patches Project by Calgary artist Janice Blaine. This series of paintings is inspired by heritage trees and urban green spaces she has photographed and sketched over the years. Blending nature and mythology, the works become narrative portraits of her artistic journey through inner-city green spaces and the magic she finds there. These paintings celebrate the spaces that still thrive and honour those that have been lost.
There will also be nature-themed DIY art kits available for purchase — including watercolour, paint-a-gnome, clay projects, and more.
✨ Tea and light snacks will be provided.
This is a free event, so there’s no obligation, but donations are welcome. Contributions will help support future eco-art programming and go toward building the community sensory garden in the front yard of Canopy Studios for everyone to enjoy.
Come create, connect, and celebrate the healing power of art and nature together.
