This registration page is specifically for registration to attend this event IN-PERSON. If you would like to attend ONLINE, please register .

Prof. Malla will draw on his extensive experience in delivering and evaluating Early Intervention Services for people with psychosis in Canada and India. He will give a brief overview of the historical development of Early Intervention Services, identifying both the benefits and gaps. He will then connect these developments to attempts to transform Youth Mental Health services, drawing on his own experience from the ACCESS Open Minds programme. He will conclude with identifying some risks, especially of overselling recent developments.

Ashok Malla is Professor Emeritus (Psychiatry), McGill University; a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences; and held a Tier-1 Canada Research Chair in Early Psychosis and Youth Mental Health (2003-2020). He has been an international leader in Early Intervention in Psychosis for three decades and Youth Mental Health since 2013. A strong advocate of rapid access to evidence-informed high-quality care for the seriously mentally ill, his work has focused on improving access and outcomes, through EI in psychosis (PEPP-Montréal), youth mental health (ACCESS OPEN MINDS, a $25M pan-Canadian YMH research project), and global mental health. Currently he is a scientific advisor for research projects in FEP/EI in several countries. Originally from Kashmir, he lives in Montréal, Canada and dabbles in writing fiction these days.
