About this Event
Learn basic bonsai techniques to start transforming plants into bonsai. Learn why it is important to have a good soil mix, root-prune, repot, and choose the right angles when repotting. Take this knowledge home and apply it to other plants as well.
In this class we will work on the Dwarf Philippine Tea Tree, also known as 'Tina' (here at the bonsai shop).
'Ina' the Moujean Tea Tree (Nashia inaguensis)
I’m Ina, native to the Caribbean. I have small leaves and get small white flowers which make me great for bonsai. My fragrant leaves are sometimes used as an herbal tea for their fragrance. I like direct to bright indirect light and warmer temperatures to bloom. To water, submerge my pot up to the rim for 10 minutes, and let me drain thoroughly. Submerge about once every 5 days, or when my pot feels about 1/2 lighter. Keep me in temperatures above 50 F all year.
This class is for beginners to intermediate.
Classes limited to 6 students for one-on-one instruction.
Materials Provided: handmade small bonsai planter in white, speckled white, or midnight black, one bonsai tree, soil, decorative rocks, necessary tools for repotting. Other materials on site available for purchase.
