Join us for an easy-to-follow introduction on how to set up simple, low-cost communication tools to stay connected during emergencies, and for everyday fun.
This session is perfect for beginners who are curious about:
- LoRa mesh devices running Meshtastic
- FRS/GMRS handheld radios
- Affordable, easy-to-use communication options (no tech background needed)
We’ll cover:
- Popular, readily available devices and radios
- How to use standalone LoRa nodes
- How to use nodes connected to the Meshtastic phone app
- DIY LoRa node kit options
- Setting up secure (encrypted) Meshtastic channels
- Using FRS/GMRS radios for short-range communication
- Antenna choices and basic troubleshooting
