Dublin North Bay Summer School Festival

The annual, very popular, Dublin North Bay Summer school Festival takes place in the serene surrounds of the Marino Institute of Education (MIE) on Griffith Avenue, Marino on June 12th/13th 2026. The event is organised by Dublin North Bay Heritage to promote the very historical North Bay Area with the long term aim of realising a Heritage Centre. The Summer School has a history of stimulating speakers on interesting and engaging subjects and this year is no different.

On the opening evening, June 12th, at 7:15pm, the Palestinian Ambassador to Ireland, Dr, Jilan Wahby Abdalmajidwill present a general paper concerning Palestine.

The Summer School incorporates the previous Bram Stoker/Dracula Summer School and on Saturday, June 13th at 11am, Dr. Dara Downey - University lecturerin literature and film will deliver the Bram stoker memorial lecture entitled "The Famous Dracula Films and Famous Actors".

This year marks the 150th anniversary of the Incorporated Orthopedic Hospital of Ireland (now Clontarf Hospital) on Castle Avenue, Clontarf. To mark this milestone, historian Kevin Finnan gives an illustrated talk at 1pm on Saturday 13th June, on the captivating history of the hospital taht grew out of the need to alleviate the pain of children suffering from diseases of the spine and bone deformities.

At 2pm on Saturday 13th June, Summer School Director Dennis McIntyre in a fascinating PowerPoint delivery will recount the 100+ year history of the Brewing Guinness family in St. Anne's Park.

The Summer school is open to everyone, but booking is essential.

Charge for the two day event is €25 and for one day is €15.
