Join us for an inspiring journey into the world of Mesoamerican tradition with the Chimalli-Huehuetl Drum Creation Workshop. The Huguehuetl, a revered ritual floor drum, inspires this unique workshop where you'll craft your very own Chimalli-Huehuetl—a drum that resonates with ancient rhythm and contemporary spirit.
Workshop Overview: The Chimalli-Huehuetl serves as a contemporary drum used in ritual dances. "Chimalli" refers to the shield used by ancient jaguar and eagle warriors, while "Huehuetl" signifies the ritual drum. Prepare to birth your drum, a process that merges tree and animal energies into a single heart with you, known as "Tonalli."
Workshop Duration: 10 hours
Materials Provided:
• Skin
• Wooden Frame
• Rope
Tools to Bring:
• Sharp Knife (A Stanley knife is highly functional)
• Hammer (Comfort and functionality are key)
• Gloves (Gardening gloves are ideal)
• Ratchet Secateurs (Ensure good quality)
• Scissors (Regular kitchen scissors are perfect)
• Head Lamp (Recommended for practicality; a phone flashlight could suffice)
• Yoga Mat or Ground Cushion (For comfort during creation)
• Personal Food and Drinks (For sustenance during the 10-hour journey)
Contribution Costs:
• 30CM Drum: £200
• 40CM Drum: £250
• 55CM Drum: £300
